Sustainability Development Goals (SDG)
Product Circularity
Queenie Cao jewelry gives their remaining material from production to factories that can use them to make other products. With the brand producing in small batch quantities, they steer away from a surplus
amount of scraps and leftover material in general. Queenie has also had previous collections made using recycled materials, transforming seemingly useless pieces with a new life.
Supply (Value) Chain
The brand only uses real silver and other natural stones, resulting in a product that doesn’t contain poisonous or harmful metals and dyes. Using these pre-existing, natural materials, the brand
doesn’t require the use of alternate resources to create new ones. This ultimately decreases the amount of excess material in post-production.
Sustainability in Operations
Small batch production methods help Queenie and her brand to avoid a surplus of pieces made, reducing the amounts of excess materials. In addition, remaining silver leftover from production
is recycled and re-used. The brand aims to become 100% made-to-order in the future, to extensively solve this issue further.
Community Engagement
Transparency
At this stage in her career, Queenie is not able to maintain a 100% transparent business model, although she progressively works towards this goal in order to one day become a completely sustainable brand.
