Sustainability Development Goals (SDG)
Product Circularity
The brand was formed to showcase the depths of variety of African fashion, as such, it employs a community of hand-weavers, artists, tailors and artisans.
Its collections are hand-woven and introduce several heritage techniques, in order to preserve ancient cultural craft.
Supply (Value) Chain
The brand employs craftspersons in Abidjan and countryside, while sourcing its materials from within the African
continent. As small batch producers, (pre-order model) the brand and its supply chain maintain the best natural methods including dying and water waste management systems.
Sustainability in Operations
The workshop and showroom co-exist in the same premises thus minimizing environmental impact of operating two buildings.
While textiles are sourced from within the continent (mainly organic fibres), there is no surplus stock and minimal textile waste.
Community Engagement
The brand engages with its artisan community, providing employment for local craftspersons to stimulate the local economy. It might be helpful to donate fabric scraps (minimal waste) to schools or organizations, or provide aspiring students a day in the life inside the workshop.
Transparency
The brand is clear about its pre-order model and handmade origins. It is an engaging story-led brand with a strong message. It might provide customers information about (its minimal) textile waste, textile origins or its hardware.
