With a handful of winter holidays right around the corner, tis’ the time of year for gifting. Here are some of our favorite vetted ethical and sustainable gift ideas. Whether you’re hunting for stocking fillers last-minute, looking to indulge yourself to ring in the new year or starting early for Valentine’s Day, we hope you’ll find some inspiration from our curated ethical list…

1. A fantastic way to not only gift ethically, but to do some good in the world is to make a donation to a charitable organization in the name of a loved one! At ONE30M, we recommend donating to the International Rescue Committee. The IRC focuses on equity and ending disparity (socioeconomic, gender, etc.) in various aspects of life including education! By supporting the International Rescue Committee, your donation will assist girls and women throughout the world in gaining access to the resources they need for a bright future!

2. For the beauty lover in your life, we recommend Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez. Rare Beauty is focused on embracing one’s true beauty – and that starts by caring for those around us and the world we live in. These values are reflected as the brand is vegan, cruelty-free, and sustainable! Their packaging is recyclable and eco-conscious (including shipping materials). Rare Beauty offers all of the makeup essentials – foundation, mascara, eyeshadow palettes, lip products, and everything in between.

3. Thin Wild Mercury fragrances are a personal favorite of mine. They are gender-neutral, vegan, cruelty-free and sustainably made in California. All orders are hand mixed and bottled by the founders, Cathleen Cardinali and Anthony Polcino. While their care and attention to detail means a longer wait time on shipment, it’s still a perfect gift for the upcoming new year, Valentine’s Day, or a loved one’s birthday. They offer a sampler to try out all four of their signature scents as well, all inspired by the 1960s and 1970s in Southern California. Laurel Canyon, 1966 and Zuma, 1975 are my faves.

4. If you’re like me, you love a good liquid lipstick. My favorite is made by Dose of Colors. Their formula is vegan and cruelty-free and the brand is continually taking steps towards sustainability. They even offer a carbon-offset purchase when ordering online to offset carbon emissions caused by shipping! I always add it on to my purchases, and it’s usually around $1 extra – though it could be more or less depending on the weight of your order.

5. Reformation is an admirably conscious brand. They are totally transparent about ethical production and the steps they take to preserve and improve sustainability progress. Ref (as they are affectionately known as) posts quarterly updates so you can see just what’s happening behind the scenes. I am a big fan of their denim – it’s incredibly durable and the various styles they offer are flattering and on-trend their sweaters are also incredibly cozy – if you’re keen for snuggles this winter – who isn’t!?)

6. Beth Richards is a favorite of ours. She truly practices what she preaches while living out the values of being ethical and sustainable. Her luxury swimwear is incredibly stylish, comfortable, versatile and durable making it the perfect built-to-last gift for the beach-lover in your life (Psst…she’s also offering virtual gift cards online if you’re a last-minute Christmas shopper).  7. O2 Monde are another favorite. These striking heels are made with innovative sustainable (no greenwashing here) vegan wine grape leather and are ethically produced in Italy. Designed by former senior designer at Bottega Veneta and with all the bells and whistles you’d expect of a high-class pump.

8. If you’re looking for a smaller gift for that special someone, ZCAACD offers necklaces that make the perfect gift for anyone on your list! Handmade in Los Angeles using sustainable production, they are sure to add a bit of sparkle or shine to your loved one’s holiday season! (They’re the perfect accessory to complete any outfit, so this is a great gift to treat yourself to as well!)

9. Vegan Chocolate. Need I say more? As a vegan chocolate-lover, the Almond Sea Salt bar from Evolved is my absolute favorite! With simple, ethically-sourced, and organic ingredients, this chocolate is truly as good as it tastes. Another great selection is Pana Organic chocolate based in Australia! They are vegan certified by the Vegan Society and host a variety of incredible flavor offerings including mint, salted caramel, and macadamia.

10. The Briogeo Detox & Repair Hair Care Set is perfect for anyone wanting to improve the health of their hair or someone simply wanting to pamper themselves. Briogeo has the Sephora Clean + Planet Positive seal of approval. Their products are all vegan as well! This set works for all hair types and includes a purifying shampoo & hydrating mask.

Happy Holidays from the team at ONE30M and happy (sustainable and ethical) shopping!
